Another female killer goes free with the now infamous King County Pussy Pass. Anyone want to venture what might’ve happened had this been a man?
A 19-year-old Issaquah woman jailed as a suspect in the slaying of her boyfriend was released Wednesday as police continue to investigate her claims that she acted in self-defense.
The woman was arrested Friday after her boyfriend, 21-year-old Tomasz Matczak, died of a single stab wound to the chest.
The night of Matczak’s death, the woman drove him to Swedish Medical Center in Issaquah after he was stabbed at the couple’s home. He bled to death while she was driving him around until he did so, in front of her child, no less. Matczak was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after being dumped on their doorstep. She took off before she even heard the news.
Bail had been set at $250,000 for the woman, whose identity has not been publicized. A deadline to file charges in the case elapsed Wednesday, prompting the woman’s release, said Dan Donohoe, King County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman.
Donohoe said she was released pending the outcome of the police investigation. No decision has been made on whether charges will be sought.
Issaquah police will continue to investigate the incident, Donohoe said, including the woman’s claim that she was defending herself when Matczak was stabbed.
Court records show several reports of domestic violence at the couple’s home.
Officers had responded to the couple’s home several times this year, said Deputy Chief Steve Cozart of the Issaquah Police Department. Matczak had also petitioned for a temporary protection order against the woman, with whom he had a 2-year-old daughter.
In interviews following the man’s death, family members said he was “a very good person” with “a very big heart.”
